How to register your Authenticator App

In this article you will find information on how to register your phone's authenticator app to your Microsoft account.

  1. We will start by going to Google Chrome and clicking on the 3 dots on the top right corner, and then selecting "New Incognito Window"
  2. After we have our incognito window open, head on over to office.com and signing into the account which we want to get the authenticator for
  3. After putting in our credentials, we will come across a couple of screens giving us information. Click "Next" until you reach a QR code
  4. Once you have the QR code on your computer screen, go over to your phone and open the Microsoft Authenticator app. Once there, click on the '+' sign that is located on the top right corner. When prompted, select "Work or School Account" and then press "Scan QR code" and scan the code on your computer screen
  5. Once the QR code is scanned and you are able to see your account listed on the main screen, press next on your computer to send a test notification to your app
  6. Once the 2-digit code is displayed on your computer screen, input that code on your Authenticator app on your phone and select "Yes"
  7. After your computer screen says "Notification Approved" click next
  8. When asked to provide your phone number, input your phone number and select if you would like to receive a text message or a phone call.
  9. If you select "Receive a Code", input the code into the text box. If you select "Call me" press # when asked to confirm your identity.
  10. After following the steps and setting up a secondary form of authentication, click "Done"
